Stem cell therapy for osteoarthritis is intriguing, but unproven. It may not have significant, lasting effects at all. It also can cost thousands of dollars. While it is possible that pluripotential stem cells could stick to cartilage defects after injection and regenerate some form of cartilage, the reality is that we don’t yet know exactly how to make this process succeed in a predictable manner.
